Peace on Earth - in June

I feel so blessed to live in the country. As I was talking to the LORD today, I expressed my gratitude for the many blessings He has bestowed on me and my family. It seems to me that the world is falling apart all around me. But, in my little part of the world, here in small-town America, I am at peace. He is in control. Amen.

My husband worked hard today in the yard, mowing, weed-eating, bush-hogging on a part of the property we rarely go on. As I brought him a glass of cold water, the FedEx truck pulled in the driveway across the street. He said warmly that he had a package for us. I looked at my husband. I hadn't ordered anything. Neither had he.... How surprised we were to find that it was a package from our son, who is away at boot camp/AIT training. We smiled at each other and I quickly opened the package. It was a blanket with the military emblem for the MOS he had chosen and 2 dog tags - one for Mom and one for Dad. Truly - the LORD knew I needed that today and I thank Him for impressing upon our sweet son to send these to us.

Here is our dog wallowing on the freshly-mowed grass.

Some pretty flowers are blooming on the bushes in front of our front porch. Some are purple and others are white.

Here is a little plastic bin we have on our porch with outdoor play things. I miss those days when both of my children were at home and young enough to want to play with mama outdoors. *Sigh*...enjoy your children when they're young. Time flies so fast.

I purchased this fun, colorful container set at a local Family Dollar store.

For dinner tonight, at my husband's request, I made salmon patties. Mmmm...together with a glass of iced tea, it was wonderful. ;)

John 14:27 - Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Half-way Thru June 2011

Well, this is my first June post. Suffice it to say, I've been pretty busy...

My busy-ness included finishing this puzzle. We probably won't make it to the beach this year because we have another big trip we have to make, so I figured I'd bring the beach to us. :) Oh, how I love the coast!

Here's my granddaughter with her big, beautiful smile. I love this little one to pieces.

Here she is at McD's eating her apple dippers - er, rather, she's licking the caramel off the apple slices. Haha. Not much of the apple got eaten.

I was at my mom's house this past weekend when a severe thunderstorm hit. It knocked down 2 trees. One hit the power line and split it in two. It was pretty scary. Poor mom had this same thing happen to her earlier this year, except it was much worse previously. She actually had trees go through her house and hit her car. It's been a crazy weather year!

Here's the other fallen tree in my mom's yard.

What girl doesn't like coloring books? Well, I haven't quite outgrown them. I have a stash for my granddaughter if she wants to color when she visits. I ran across a bunch of cute coloring books at Ollie's the other day and added to my stash.

Here's the group of coloring books I purchased for .79 and .99 cents apiece. :)

The candle I currently have burning is shown above. It's an orange scent. Honestly, it's not the best smelling candle. LOL. Smells better when it's not burning....

I am still anxiously anticipating my son's graduation from boot camp this summer. My daughter is now officially into her summer break. She will be going with her church youth group to a water park this weekend and is looking forward to that. She surprised me the other day when she cleaned her room without me asking her to - it was well done too.

Hubby continues to work in his vegetable garden most evenings when he comes home from work. I am most looking forward to the tomatoes and corn on the cob!

Happy Wednesday.
