Happy Easter

It's Resurrection Day 2011! We had a wonderful Easter weekend. I had Friday off of work and spent some quality time with my grandbaby girl and daughter-in-law - and daughter too. :) Hubby was busy doing other things most of the weekend. Here are a few eggs we dyed. I love the colors.

Here's a bunch of candy I got for my husband for Easter. Haha.

The fragrant lilac bush is blooming!

Our dogwood blooms. They're already falling off of the tree. :( It was lovely while it lasted though.

These are in front of my mom's house. I'm not sure what they are, but they're very pretty.

Filling up some of the bird feeders in our yard...

Here is my granddaughter all prettied up in her Easter dress today. She is so precious!

My daughter holding her niece...

She was fascinated with my mom's wind chimes. And she's always carrying around her bunny - affectionately known as "bun-bun".

I want to take a moment to thank God for His gift of love - redeeming us with the shed blood of His only begotten son, Jesus. We serve a RISEN Saviour!

Matthew 28:6 - He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.

Relaxing Saturday

Today started off very rainy. I so wanted to stay in bed and sleep this morning, but work kept me from that. I work from home, so it's not such an inconvenience. It saves us so much with the gas prices going up as they are! I am grateful. Hubby made breakfast for us this morning. He's a fabulous cook - a little too good. I was so tiny when I first met him....now not so much. As you can see, he loves fried foods. Not good for either of us, but it certainly tastes good. ;) I am trying to lose some weight though - cutting out sweets is a big thing. And now that spring is here, I can get out and walk more.

I found this adorable picnic table condiment holder today at the grocery store. I also changed my table cover in my kitchen to this bright, summery, vinyl cover. It's just a cheap table cover, but it's a cheery change that does me good.

My daughter is planning on trying out for the color guard this year. She's been in the marching band as a flute player. She's very good...making All-Regional Band as well as being selected for first chair in Concert Band, even over all of the high schoolers. I'm very proud of her. I'm not sure why she's wanting to try out for color guard though. I suppose she just wants to try something new. She has a restless personality. Here she is practicing with my daughter-in-law. It was very windy today, so she was having a hard time. :)

The wind was relentless!

As for me, I went for a long walk - about 3 miles or so - pushing my granddaughter in her stroller. My goodness, it was nice to get some fresh air and exercise. Kaylee fell fast asleep.

I captured the sunset here in Central Virginia nearing the end of my walk. I am so amazed at our Creator. His handiwork leaves me breathless.

Here is one of my favorite hymns:

This is my Father's world

And to my listening ears

All nature sings, and round me rings

The music of the spheres

This is my Father's world

I rest me in the thought

Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas

His hand the wonders wrought

This is my Father's world

The birds their carols raise

The morning light, the lily white

Declare their maker's praise

This is my Father's world

He shines in all that's fair

In the rustling grass, I hear him pass

He speaks to me everywhere

This is my Father's world

Oh let me ne'er forget

That though the wrong seems oft so strong

God is the ruler yet

This is my Father's world

Why should my heart be sad?

The Lord is King, let the heavens ring

God reigns, let the earth be glad.

It's Tuesday. Bleh. :) My daughter-in-law informed me yesterday that we have 100 more days until we see my son again. LOL. Well, now it's 99, and that sounds a little better. My husband was craving something sweet last night, so I made a cake. Topped it with yellow frosting and flowery sprinkles.

I absolutely love dogwood trees. This tree is right in front of my porch-swing front porch. I fill up the birdhouses in my yard, but boy, they're emptied out pretty quick. I love to bird watch and there are lots to watch now. :)

I have a few wind chimes hanging on my front porch. Since we live out in the country, I thought this one was suitable. I think it's really cute. I love country decor.

Here is a simple quote to close with from one of my favorite authors and Christian apologists:

God cannot give us happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing. - C.S. Lewis

Apple Tree Blossoms and Clotheslines

The apple tree in our yard is blossoming now. It's so lovely.

I am hoping for lots of apples this year. Some years we get lots and others not so much.

It was a beautiful weekend here in VA. I decided to hang a few loads of clothes out on the line. :)

Went to Dairy Queen on Saturday for lunch. Here is my granddaughter enjoying her mama's chocolate shake. Mmmmm....

Our son called my daughter-in-law yesterday and I was able to speak to him - first time in 5 weeks. It was so great hearing his voice. We all miss him so very much. I pray for him on a daily basis. I tell God that He told us to pray without ceasing and it seems like that's what I've been doing for the last 5 weeks. :) So glad we can come boldly before His throne of grace.

Surprisingly, I had a pleasant Monday at work. Normally, Mondays are brutal. I think this is mainly because I get so little rest on the weekends anymore, what with all the catch-up housework, errands, etc. to be done.

Looks like it's going to be a stormy night tonight. There are some dangerous storms headed our way. I pray that God keeps us safe.

Warmly,

Lorrie
