Relaxing Saturday

Today started off very rainy. I so wanted to stay in bed and sleep this morning, but work kept me from that. I work from home, so it's not such an inconvenience. It saves us so much with the gas prices going up as they are! I am grateful. Hubby made breakfast for us this morning. He's a fabulous cook - a little too good. I was so tiny when I first met him....now not so much. As you can see, he loves fried foods. Not good for either of us, but it certainly tastes good. ;) I am trying to lose some weight though - cutting out sweets is a big thing. And now that spring is here, I can get out and walk more.

I found this adorable picnic table condiment holder today at the grocery store. I also changed my table cover in my kitchen to this bright, summery, vinyl cover. It's just a cheap table cover, but it's a cheery change that does me good.

My daughter is planning on trying out for the color guard this year. She's been in the marching band as a flute player. She's very good...making All-Regional Band as well as being selected for first chair in Concert Band, even over all of the high schoolers. I'm very proud of her. I'm not sure why she's wanting to try out for color guard though. I suppose she just wants to try something new. She has a restless personality. Here she is practicing with my daughter-in-law. It was very windy today, so she was having a hard time. :)

The wind was relentless!

As for me, I went for a long walk - about 3 miles or so - pushing my granddaughter in her stroller. My goodness, it was nice to get some fresh air and exercise. Kaylee fell fast asleep.

I captured the sunset here in Central Virginia nearing the end of my walk. I am so amazed at our Creator. His handiwork leaves me breathless.

Here is one of my favorite hymns:

This is my Father's world

And to my listening ears

All nature sings, and round me rings

The music of the spheres

This is my Father's world

I rest me in the thought

Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas

His hand the wonders wrought

This is my Father's world

The birds their carols raise

The morning light, the lily white

Declare their maker's praise

This is my Father's world

He shines in all that's fair

In the rustling grass, I hear him pass

He speaks to me everywhere

This is my Father's world

Oh let me ne'er forget

That though the wrong seems oft so strong

God is the ruler yet

This is my Father's world

Why should my heart be sad?

The Lord is King, let the heavens ring

God reigns, let the earth be glad.
