I often think about who I'd like to meet in heaven (other than Jesus of course). These people come to mind:
Adam & Eve
Abraham
Moses
Isaac (what must he have thought before the angel of the Lord halted his sacrifice?)
Noah
Ruth
Queen Esther
Rahab
Job
Daniel
Mary the mother of Jesus
Mary Magdalene
Joseph
John the Baptist
Peter
John the Apostle
Paul
Fanny Crosby
Helen Keller
John Wesley
Susannah Wesley
George Washington
Todd Beamer
Ronald Reagan
Won't it be a grand time? But there's one man, in particular, who I really look forward to meeting - David. Can you imagine being called "a man after God's own heart"? What kind of man was he to be singled out by God Almighty in such a special way? The Psalms of David give us some insight into exactly what he was about. His love for God was so evident in his poetry. How it must have thrilled the LORD to hear his beautiful psalms and prayers. They were filled with such raw emotion. Psalm 23 is my favorite. But Psalm 42:1 is so lovely. He sounds so heartsick for the LORD:
As the deer panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
I look forward to meeting you, David; until then, my soul will pant after thee, O God.
